DIY Honey Lavender Hair Mask!

Show Some Hair Love!

DIY Hair Mask

Yesterday I put up a new video showing how to make this super easy hair mask that leaves your hair feeling soft, looking shiny, and as a bonus it encourages growth!

What you will need:

1. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
2. Honey
3. Essential Oil (Any will work but I like to use Lavender.)
4. Small Bowl
5. Spoon

Directions:

Heat up the coconut oil in the microwave for a few seconds, then spoon two spoonfuls into the bowl. Next, add only one spoonful of Honey to the mixture. Take your fav essential oil and add two to three drops to your hair mask. Now mix it all together and you should get a mixture the consistency of conditioner. (Doesn't have to be exact don't worry.) Put your hair into a ponytail and apply the mask only to the "tail" of the hair and then wrap up into a topknot. Leave in for 15-20 minutes then shower and style as normal!

How easy is that? Check out my video and I explain why I use each ingredient and specifically what makes them ultra beneficial for your hair.

Easy Gold & Copper Eye Look

Hey Lovelies!

I recently posted an easy eye tutorial featuring the ultimate fall color: Copper. It's very versatile but can be a little scary I must admit. I am very wary of any color that even approaches red because I have applied it wrong before and the result was that I looked very tired/sick. I think the trick here is to incorporate some brown and gold and keep the copper away from the bottom of the eyes.

I'm sure there are many awesome looks that can be created with this fall color and would love to hear how you like to wear copper in the comments below! Feel free to link any videos you have made so I can check them out [:

Enjoy!!

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee

Josie Maran doesn't disappoint with her line of Cheek Gelee's.

I first saw this on Essie Button's youtube channel and was drawn in by the electric vibrance of this cheek product. I am a sucker for all blushes, stains, any cheek products really. Yes I am that girl who doesn't realize how overboard she went with the blush until by chance-she sees her rosy reflection in a car window or store front! If I only had 15 seconds to get out the door I would throw on some blush and be on my way.

This product is great because it easily blends with fingers or a stippling brush. In spite of the shocking color that is in the pot this cheek gelee provides a cool flush of color and a moisturized dewy finish. (Im assuming that this is because of the coconut.)

Overall, I love this long wearing product! Enough to tempt me to Sephora to swatch the berry version of this product which seems perfect for fall. (:

Let me know if you have tried any of the other colors and what you think!

Win or Bin? Maybelline Master Duo Liquid Liner

Maybelline Master Duo Liquid Liner

"Violet Luster"

I was cruising the drugstore makeup section in search of a purple liner that would be fun to play without the high end price tag and found this! I love many of Maybelline's products and thought this would be a fairly safe bet because of the familiarity of the brand name.

Oh how I was wrong...

Immediately upon application I knew that this was destined for the bin. Honestly the only way I can properly describe the application of this product is that it is like applying purple Kool-Aid onto your eyelids. The consistency was watery and very hard to work with. The color was not build able at all and when I tried to apply a second layer, it simply wiped off the first layer and no pigment was left.

Attached are a few pics demonstrating the poor quality:

The official verdict is in: BIN

Let me know if you have any better liquid liner drugstore alternatives!

First Impressions: Urban Decay Lipstick

Urban Decay's Lipstick in "Rapture"

Check out my First Impression video!

After stumbling across the huge display at my local Sephora, I decided to give the new Urban Decay Lipsticks a try! In all honesty, I was very hesitant to purchase a $22 lipstick because I am completely in love with YSL and for the most part.. don't feel comfortable spending the money on any other high end lipsticks. I am a Revlon & Maybelline junkie in the fullest and I know that they can match up/exceed most high end lipsticks.

That being said.... I like this product!

The packaging is much different than I expected and has a mirror-like finish and a great weight that screams high end. Consistency was very creamy and moisturizing and reminded me of our most loved revlon lip butters. However, the color payoff was much more pigmented than most of the darker lip butters and the wear was longer. I also feel like the color may oxidize just the tiniest bit (don't quote me on that) and appeared darker on the lips than straight out of the tube. Pretty <3

The pic below was after a few hours of wear and after I had had a snack and a drink. Not too shabby!

Overall I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for something more long wearing with great color payoff (better than lip butters). I must say that the color selection was much better and fall ready with some beautiful reds that I am dying to get my hands on!

If you have tried any of Urban Decay's new lipsticks let me know what your favorite color is and what you thought in the comments section below!

Nail of the Day-Buttercup

Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish in "Buttercup"

This is one of my all time favorite nail polishes! The Revlon Colorstay polishes are all great quality and very opaque; even a light color such as this. For me full opacity of this creamy pale yellow polish was achieved in two coats. I have gradually seen the price for this line rise over the last year or so and now retails at approx $7.99, but I would say the quality is an OPI equivalent. I haven't seen any bright/neon colors from the Colorstay collection but hopefully as the line grows so will the color selection! Overall I love this polish and you really can't go wrong with such a versatile and crisp color.

July Favorites

Yay! First favorites post!

Check out my video for more opinions/info on the products.

MUST WATCH: July Favorites

Physicians Formula Super BB Beauty Balm Powder

For the first time ever I love a powder! Most of the time I just use powders on extremely hot days to set foundation and even then I use it very sparingly on ultra moisturized skin. The self proclaimed "Powder Balm" was confusing at first, but after application I knew that the product preformed as just that. The longer the powder stayed on my skin, the more the finish turned to a dewy, fresh, matte look. I will definitely be using this more than any other powder I've tried. I feel I must say something about the BB label however...It seems that every cosmetic company is slapping "BB" on the front of their products and it has definitely run its corse. Despite this, the packaging is adorable and comes with a mirror and small brush for on-the-go application.

MAC Mineralized Charged Water

After I found that Sephora was out of Urban Decay's De Slick I wandered to the closest MAC counter and found this charged mineral water that is similar to MAC's Fix+. After much deliberation I decided to give it a try and test its makeup setting/prolonging capabilities. Although I would not recommend this spray for this purpose, I ended up loving it for other reasons! It is SO nice for after makeup application to really finalize the look and give your skin a dewy look. I love how refreshing the mist is and it feels nice in the summer heat.

Maybelline's Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara

This mascara is by FAR my favorite out of all high-end and drugstore mascaras I've ever tried. This mascara gives major volume as opposed to length which is something I look for in a mascara and have found this is what suits me best. The waterproof quality is amazing and stays put (rare for me), while still easily removed at the days end. The flexible brush inside allows for a natural looking application but is still very buildable for night time looks. You can't go wrong with this product and is reasonable price tag.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupt Shine 8-Pink in Confidence

Where can I even begin with this product? The color is amazing- a dusty rose that is flattering on most skin tones is great for and everyday pink. The application is the best i've ever experienced with a lipstick. Creamy, smooth, soft are just few of the many ways to describe this YSL lipstick experience. A hefty price tag that really pushes the limits for me made this buy hard but trust me when I say that you will not regret this splurge. After the almost glossy application the lipstick sets and become a creamy shine that is irresistible. Not to mention the packaging is pure luxury and it definitely lives up to the YSL stigma.

Dior Lipgloss-Princess

Can we all just take a moment to admire this packaging? Adorable, clean, crisp. Lured me right in and with a name like "Princess" it became all the more enticing. After swatching this on my hand in Sephora I knew I had to have it. The prefect texture comes in this little tube. Not sticky, slimy or slippery. Kissable lips are mine for the taking with this high end Dior product. Cannot wait to expand my collection!

Thats it! Thanks for checking out my July favorites and watching my video!

Face Kit by Rebecca Moses Review

While I was making my normal rounds at Nordstrom this makeup palette by MAC immediately caught my eye. The artwork on the packaging was definitely worth admiring and as I opened the palette I knew that MAC absolutely hit this one out of the park. The face kit features two lip colors, four eyeshadows, and one blush.

Check out my Get Ready With Me MAC Rebecca Moses Face Kit Edition on YouTube!

Blush:

The blush is a matte powder in a peachy coral. Application was smooth, long lasting, and it was surprisingly easy to build color. (I am SUCH a blush addict.) In love with this color!

Eyeshadows:

Orb is the top left shadow and is a soft white/nude. The pigment was average and it's a great basic lid color to prep for more pigmented shadows and works well for blending. All That Glitters (My FAVORITE MAC eyeshadow & voted Allure's best 2012!!) is the top right shadow and is a gorgeous bronzy gold with just the right amount of shimmer to wake up any look. It easily doubles as a lid color & a highlight for the inner eye and the brow bone. This is nice if you are traveling and only want to pack this single palette! Smoked Sepia is the bottom left shadow that reminds me of the approaching fall. It features a smoky burnt brown with a hint of burgundy and beige undertones. I used this shadow in my crease to create depth. Show-Stopper is the bottom right color and is a cocoa brown that is great for deepening the outer lid color & blending into the crease.

Lipstick:

Ravishing is my favorite of the two lipsticks included in this kit and is a warm rose-coral color! The finish was average and overall a great look. Myth is closer to a peachy nude that I also enjoyed but wasn't blown away with how it looked on my olive skin tone. Both of these lipsticks were easily applied with the smaller end of the makeup brush that was included in this kit.

Overall I really enjoyed using this Face Kit and loved the quirky packaging that almost has a velvety texture to it. I'm looking forward to finding new ways to combine the colors with other shadows in my collection and it was definitely a great buy! It was also very nice to see MAC put out something that is more easy to wear for everyday looks. Score one for MAC.

First Blog Post!

First blog post...no pressure right? Right. (;

After buying product after product that seemed to not do the trick for me, I became an avid beauty blog reader. I found that a little research pre-shopping trip did wonders and soon I was picking up many more beauty product hits than misses. The world of fashion and beauty is constantly evolving and moving and with our busy lives its extremely difficult to keep up - this is where I come in. Trends turn into classics and classics are reinvented. As i became accustomed to the evolution and patterns of the cosmetic industry,  a spark created a flame which progressed to a burning obsession.

After significant trial and error I have formed my own opinions and views on different products and cannot wait to not only join but become a beneficial, informative and unique part the beauty blogging community. Within this blog I will include product reviews, pictures, fashion posts, and whatever else gives me that inspiration and passion that we all crave in life. My aim is to find new ways to represent  products while sharing embers that fuel the fire of my passionate lifestyle.

How we look on the outside is often an expression of how we feel on the inside. A subtle, well composed and inspired application of good quality cosmetic and beauty products can portray a story in every glance, every look, every expression and every smile. They say a picture can paint a thousand words, I believe that an individuals look in certain settings and situations can tell the story of their lifetime.

A Little About Me:

I will soon be marrying the man of my dreams in Colorado and soon after we will be staying in England while he attends school at The University of Cambridge for his masters degree. Big changes are on the horizon but I cannot wait to start this next chapter of my life because change breeds possibily and possibilty enables us to reach new horizons and to reimagine our individual potential. I have played soccer all my life and am looking forward to traveling a lot with him and letting the rest of my story unfold.

I hope you enjoy my blog & follow me on this new and exciting journey.
